Also known as owner-occupancy is a form of housing cooperative where a person called the owner owns the home in which he/she lives. This home can be a house, apartment, or a housing cooperative.

Documents that essentially provide for proof of ownership over property or real estates. In terms of real estates it will be described in full and the owner's name and signature will also be included in the tile deed.

Will not necessarily provide for proof of ownership. A deed of grant is the legal document that is used to indicate the transfer of property or real estate from one party to another. A deed of grant will act more along the lines of a contract, where the involved parties, the grantor and grantee, will abide by certain provision in order to secure the transfer of ownership of the property at hand.

The programme will consider persons who:

• 1. Have been registered on the municipal housing-demand database (waiting list) for a minimum of 10 years.
• 2. Are over the age of 40 years and/or have special needs (disabled)- priority applicants.
• 3. Are married or cohabiting with a long-term partner/ or are single or divorced with financial dependents.
• 4. Are South African citizens, or have a South African Permanent Residency Permit.
• 5. Have a combined gross monthly household income that is below R3 500.
• 6. Have never received a subsidy from the government, neither their partner.
• 7. Never owned property.

The finance linked individual subsidy programme (FLISP) is an instrument that assists qualifying households by providing a once-off down payment to those households who have secured loan finance to acquire a residential property for the first time. The programme will consider persons who:

• 1. Earn between R3 501 to R15 000.
• 2. Be a South African citizen with a valid identity document, or be a permanent resident with a permanent residence permit.
• 3. Not have qualified for a government housing subsidy before.
• 4. Not have owned a fixed residential property before.
• 5. Be competent to contract-over 18 years or legally married or legally divorced and of sound mind.
• 6. Be married or cohabiting.
• 7. Be single with financial dependents.

It is an agreement or contract that contains all the terms and conditions for the purchase and sale of property.
